How it works
Score the eight value drivers
We read your financials, customer base, team and records, then score each driver from 1 to 5 so you can see where value is being lost.
Agree a plan with a 100-day start
Three to five initiatives for the first 100 days, a sequenced multi-year roadmap behind them, and one named owner and one number for every item.
Start the conversation
Tell us a little about the company and what you want it to be in five years. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Most owners find out what their company is worth only when someone else tells them, usually a buyer, a lender or a valuator, and usually too late to change the answer. ValueCreation.ca works the other way round. We identify the specific drivers that set the value of an owner-led Canadian business, score where yours stands today, and run a two-to-five-year plan to improve them while you keep running the company.
The result we work toward is simple to describe and hard to fake: higher, cleaner earnings, revenue that repeats, a management layer that makes decisions without you, and records that stand up to scrutiny. That company is worth more to you every year you own it, and it gives you real choices when you are ready to step back.
What we mean by value creation
Value creation is the deliberate, measured improvement of the things that make a business worth more, carried out over years rather than in a pre-sale rush. It is not a rebrand, a cost-cutting blitz or a growth-at-any-price campaign.
A buyer or lender looks at a company through a fairly consistent lens. They ask how much it earns, how reliably it earns it, how much of that would survive if the owner left, and how much risk sits in a few customers, a few staff or a few licences. Every one of those questions can be worked on. Our job is to make the work visible, sequenced and accountable.
ValueCreation.ca belongs to the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies. It is Canadian, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and led by Ali Sedighi, MBA. You can read how we approach engagements on the about page.
The eight value drivers we score
Every engagement starts with the same scorecard, so you can compare progress quarter after quarter. Each driver is scored from 1 (a serious drag on value) to 5 (a genuine strength).
| Driver | The question it answers |
|---|---|
| Earnings quality | Are the profits real, repeatable and explainable from the books? |
| Margins | Is gross margin healthy for the work you do, and is overhead under control? |
| Recurring revenue | What share of next year's revenue is already contracted or highly likely? |
| Concentration | How exposed are you to one customer, one supplier or one channel? |
| Owner dependence | What breaks if you take six weeks off? |
| Management depth | Is there a second layer that owns results, not just tasks? |
| Cash conversion | How quickly does revenue turn into cash in the bank? |
| Growth runway | Is there a credible, documented path to more profitable revenue? |
The value-driver assessment explains how each score is reached and what evidence we look at. If you want to try it yourself first, our guide to enterprise value drivers walks through a self-assessment.
Why the multi-year horizon matters
Improvements count for more when they have a track record. A margin gain that appeared last quarter is a claim; the same gain held for eight quarters is evidence. That is why our plans run two to five years.
A typical plan moves in stages:
- Foundation (months 1–12): a reliable monthly close, pricing and job-mix fixes, and the first recurring-revenue offer.
- Durability (years 2–3): a growing share of contracted revenue, a second management layer in place, and owner involvement reduced in measured steps.
- Proof (years 3–5): sustained results under management, clean records, and a business that could be examined closely without surprises.
An illustration of why this matters
Illustration only, not market data. Suppose a company earns $600,000 of EBITDA and a buyer were to apply a 4× multiple. That implies an enterprise value of about $2.4 million. If a value-creation plan adds $150,000 of sustained EBITDA, the same assumed multiple implies $600,000 more. If the plan also makes earnings steadier and less owner-dependent, a buyer may be willing to apply a higher multiple, but that is a judgement buyers and valuators make, not something anyone can promise. Real multiples vary widely by industry, size and risk.
Six ways we work with owners
- Value-driver assessment: the scored diagnostic that starts every engagement.
- Value-creation plan: the 100-day plan and the multi-year roadmap behind it.
- Margin and EBITDA improvement: pricing, job mix, overhead and the add-back discipline that makes earnings explainable.
- Recurring revenue design: service agreements, memberships and contracts that renew.
- Owner dependency and management depth: building the layer that runs the company.
- Pre-sale readiness and handover: when the time comes, a clean handover to the group's exit work at Sedighi.ca and BizSell.ca.

Proof of method, from our HVAC work
Our published results come from Sedighi.ca's work with HVAC companies, so read them as evidence of how we build durable assets, not as results from your industry. GasBoilers.ca is a gas-boiler division built for CANRO Heat that now serves 26+ BC communities with a 5.0★ rating from 76+ Google reviews: a new business line built as an asset in its own right. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300+ monthly leads and 300% ROI, a demand engine that does not depend on any one salesperson. More on the results page.
What we do not do
We are business consultants. We do not provide securities, real-estate trading, legal, tax or valuation-opinion advice, and we never promise a valuation or a sale price. For those questions we work alongside your CPA, your lawyer and, where a formal opinion is needed, a Chartered Business Valuator.
Start with a short conversation
The first 30-minute consultation is free and carries no obligation, and nothing in our engagements locks you in. Call or text (604) 632-4959, or email Ali@Sedighi.ca. A two-line text with your industry and province is plenty to begin. We meet in person and online by video call. See pricing for how engagements are scoped, or the FAQ for common questions.
Frequently asked questions
What does a value-creation consultant actually do?
We work on the parts of a business that change what it is worth: the quality of its earnings, its margins, how much revenue repeats, how concentrated its customers are, and how much it depends on the owner. We diagnose those drivers, build a plan to improve them, and help your team carry it out over several years.
Do I have to be planning a sale?
No. Most of the work makes a company more profitable, steadier and easier to run, which is worth having whether you sell, pass it to family, bring in a partner or keep it. If you do decide to sell, the group's exit work is handled through Sedighi.ca and BizSell.ca.
Will you tell me what my business is worth?
No. We do not give valuation opinions or promise a sale price. A Chartered Business Valuator can give you a formal valuation; we focus on the drivers behind it and on moving them.
How long does a value-creation plan take?
The assessment usually takes a few weeks. The plan itself runs two to five years, because buyers and lenders want to see improvements sustained over time, not announced the month before a conversation.
Do you meet in person?
Yes. We meet owners in person and online by video call, and we also work by phone, text and email. A short text to (604) 632-4959 is an easy way to start.
What does it cost?
Consulting starts at $175 per hour, defined projects start at $3,500 and retainers start at $2,500 per month, in Canadian dollars plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The first 30-minute consultation is free.
